Hallam Choral Society is a vibrant and welcoming mixed-voice choir that combines passion for singing with a commitment to musical excellence. With a diverse group of around sixty singers from across the city, we come together to present three public concerts a year, featuring an exciting mix of music. Our Musical Director, Kate Thompson—a Sheffield-based voice specialist—joined us in Summer 2023, bringing fresh energy and expertise.
Our concerts span the seasons: lighter music for summer, traditional carols and festive choral works at Christmas, and an eclectic range of captivating pieces in autumn and spring. Each performance is enhanced by skilled professional accompaniment, from pianists and organists to orchestras, and we bring in exceptional soloists when the repertoire calls for it.
As part of our mission to inspire a new generation of singers, we’re excited to offer a reduced membership fee—approximately half the full rate—for singers under 30, and free membership to those under 21. We’re committed to fostering a community where all voices, especially those of young singers, can thrive and experience the joy of singing.
The Hallam Choral Society is proud to be associated with Classical Sheffield; whose aim is to be a comprehensive collecting-place for information about what's on, who’s doing it and where, as well as promoting and showcasing all the musical events that make up the rich cultural life of Sheffield.. Please take a minute to visit their site after you've had a look around ours.
